Chapter 6 Dev Update #1


Greetings everyone! For those of you in the USA, I hope you had an excellent Labor Day. For those outside the USA, I hope you had a terrific regular day! And more importantly, I hope everyone enjoyed Chapter 5. It was such a big update!

First, let me say THANK YOU! The Steam/Chapter 5 launch was such a terrific success, and I couldn't have gotten to this point without you and your support. This has truly been such and incredible journey, and I'm so happy to share it with all of you. So again, thank you!

Let's get on to the core purpose of this post. Even though it's only been a couple weeks since Chapter 5 was released, I've been hard at work making Chapter 6. No rest for the weary, right? Gotta keep up that smaller dev cycle! It's still fairly early in the process, but Chapter 6 is already shaping up to be even larger than 5 was. I'm only about a third of the way done with writing, and the script is already ~50 pages long. To compare, C5 was 106 pages. I'm crazy, I know.

So, how about some hard numbers then? Well, here is the current status of Chapter 6:

Creative Design: 33%
Environment Design: 21%
Writing: 37%
Rendering: 0%
Animation: 6%
Code: 0%

I've started rendering scene 1, so that number will begin rising in the next couple days. I'm also going to start the process of looking for an artist to join me. The posing and rendering is absolutely the most time consuming part of this process, and as the game moves forward, this gets bigger and bigger. Especially with the branching paths.

Right now, I'm targeting early November for Chapter 6. That would be a roughly 12 week cycle, which as you all know is quite quick! In addition, I've started working on a Christmas special! I expect it to be smaller (in comparison to standard updates), maybe 15-20 minutes of content. But it'll be fun :)
